The village of Kamilari
is situated 65 km south of Heraklion, the capital city of Crete, and the airport. It takes a little over 1 hour to travel from the central north part of the island to our holiday homes in the south. To fully enjoy your holiday and the surrounding area we suggest you also reserve one of our hire cars.
Kamilari is a small, laid-back traditional Cretan village, which stretches over three hills. You can wander through narrow village streets and alleyways and pass by beautiful courtyards, balconies and small gardens filled with colourful geranium and bougainvillea. These days, the locals do not just work in the fields amongst their olives and vegetables, they also, on a small scale, work in tourism. Dotted through the village you will find kafenions (coffee shops) tavernas, and a mini-market which are used by the locals as well as the tourist. You will find fresh fruit, fresh bread, fresh vegetables, olive oil, free-range eggs, home-made wines and much more. There are also some gift shops. Sit for 10 minutes in a village kafenion with a Greek coffee and you will soon discover how friendly the local villagers are. Kamilari has created for itself a very harmonious balance between the local people, the long term visitor, and the tourist creating an atmosphere where all are truly welcome.
In the past few years many of the older houses have been renovated using traditional knowledge and skill, and several have been completely rebuilt. Kamilari is not a village of mass tourism and big hotels. Kamilari is only 2.5 km away from the beach of Kalamaki and just a few miles away from The Minoan Palace of Festos, and the famous beach at Matala with its rock caves,

Your accommodation is a 5 minute walk from the village centre. The three holiday homes, situated on Alevrota hill, have a country setting, and fantastic panoramic views. They are to be found on a large area of land (4000 sq. m.) and are surrounded by olive trees, wild birds, herbs and flowers.
The beautiful, individually designed stone houses are decorated in the traditional Cretan manner. They are decorated for 2 up to 5 persons. Each residence is a detached unit with its own private entrance. Each sits in its own 600 m² (approximately) of garden with its own swimming pool with Jacuzzi area (hydro massage) and a separate paddling pool for children. The houses are separated by low stone walls, trees and hedges which all help to maintain the privacy of their residents.
